# Lists

Lists are a new addition for NameShouts v2.0. Lists allow you to create and maintain your own custom list of names. You can learn more about creating and maintaining lists by visiting [our help center](https://nameshouts.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500000361261-Making-and-editing-lists).

Using our API, you can get all the available names that are on a list. You can program your application so that the pronunciations are first retrieved from your custom list before using the NameShouts database as a fallback.

The list object comprises of the following relevant attributes:

| **Attributes** | **Description** |
| - | - |
| id | Unique identifier of the list |
| user\_id | Unique identifier of the user this list belongs to. |
| list\_name | The name of the list |
